The problem with high school relationships.

Now let me state my disclosure before proceding: Yes, sounds like a title that should not come from me seeing as how I have been in a relationship, while in high school, for the last year. Also, let me clearify that this is not a bash on high school relationships because for me to say that would be extremely hypocritical and very inaccurate to my beliefs. Also, this does not contain any hidden agenda to slander ANYONE. Not my boyfriend, not my friends, not my friends boyfriends. This is simply an observation I have made.

High school relationships are meant to be fun and that should be what they remain. Yes, things get serious. I absolutely understand but they should always remain enjoyable. They should be in place to bring you joy, something added. Not take away from you. Never compromise that. High school relationships, under typical circumstances, can only be so serious. Other people and other things intervene. Often it’s family, regardless what you want, they DO control a lot of your and your significant others life. They control how much your boyfriend/girlfriend can be with you. You can’t blame them but regardless it is there. It is once they can genuinely make their own decisions that matters. When they have the option to be with you and chose not to. When they can just stop by, but chose not to. That is when they have something to prove. Yes, it will hurt in high school. And you can give up if you chose. I do believe high school is a time of learning about yourself and if this conflict ever.takes away from you and your ultimate happiness, go. You have to. But you’re giving them a test they can’t pass. They can’t control their circumstances. But when they can, is when they prove a lot. That is when relationships prove themselves. After high school. When they are their own person, out on their own, that’s when they prove how much they really are there.
